Many jurisdictions.

A CONTINENTAL OUTLOOK

Law is local.
Connections should
reach further.

Good legal advice begins with the law that actually applies. A local attorney, legal practitioner or legal advisor brings jurisdiction-specific knowledge, practical understanding and relevant professional authority to your matter.

For cross-border instructions, we seek the right professional in each relevant jurisdiction. Tell us where the issue arises and we will assess an introduction against speciality, experience, permitted scope and availability.

Why local expertise matters

ADMISSION BY APPROVAL, NOT AUTOMATIC LISTING

Expertise matters.
So does scrutiny.

Every applicant attorney, legal practitioner and legal advisor must pass a rigorous application and approval process before being listed or introduced through the network.

Our standard is selective: demonstrated qualifications, relevant experience, professional standing and the permitted scope of work. We seek highly qualified, experienced professionals suited to your matter, not simply the nearest name.

GOOD TO KNOW

A little clarity,
before you begin.

Understanding the connection process.

Is this a law firm or a referral network?

African Lawyers Association is a pan-African legal and advisory network connecting enquirers with independent attorneys, legal practitioners and legal advisors. The network itself does not accept legal instructions through this website. The relevant attorney, law firm or legal advisor must agree to act under a separate engagement within their permitted scope.

Can I request a written legal opinion?

Yes. Choose "Written legal opinion" in the client enquiry form and identify the relevant jurisdiction and area of law. The practitioner will agree the scope, documents required, fee and delivery timetable directly with you.

How are legal fees and my budget handled?

State your indicative budget in USD and whether it relates to the whole matter, a consultation or an hourly rate. You can also request a fee estimate. Your budget is not a quote or fee agreement. Any fees, taxes, disbursements and payment currency must be confirmed with the practitioner.

Can you assist with an urgent or cross-border matter?

You may flag urgency and identify all relevant locations. Availability is not guaranteed, and this is not an emergency service. Do not wait for a referral where a limitation period, hearing, detention or other immediate deadline requires direct action.

Does submitting an enquiry create a lawyer-client relationship?

No. An enquiry is a request for a possible introduction. Professional admission, conflicts, suitability and engagement terms must be confirmed before a practitioner accepts instructions. Do not assume your initial enquiry is legally privileged.

How can an attorney or legal advisor apply to join?

Use the professional application form to state your category, location, speciality, qualifications and experience. Credential verification and express approval are required before listing or referral. The same standards apply to legal advisors within their permitted advisory scope.

Are legal advisors included in the network?

Yes. Applications and client introductions include attorneys, advocates, other legal practitioners and legal advisors. Each professional is assessed in their actual category. A legal advisor may be introduced only for work within their established qualifications and permitted scope, not as an admitted attorney unless that status is verified.

How are applicants checked before approval?

Every applicant must complete our application and approval process. It covers identity and qualifications, professional authority and standing, relevant experience and references, professional standards and suitability. Only approved professionals may be listed or considered for referral. Read the admission standards for the full process.

Why should I seek a local professional?

Your professional's authority and experience should match the relevant jurisdiction and services. Local expertise helps frame the enquiry around the law, procedure and practical context that matter. Cross-border work may require separate professionals. Read why local expertise matters.

Can the network administer my practice and prepare fees?

Yes. Under an agreed written mandate, the network administrator can support matter management, time recording, fee-note preparation, billing and account administration. The attorney or advisor retains professional responsibility and approves charges. The offered service does not include handling client or trust funds. Explore practice administration and feeing.

Where are website requests sent?

All client enquiries, professional applications, administration requests and general correspondence are directed to info@africanlawyersassociation.com. A form confirmation records hand-off to the email service, not acceptance of a legal or administrative mandate.
