A PAN-AFRICAN LEGAL & ADVISORY NETWORKinfo@africanlawyersassociation.com

OUR ADMISSION STANDARD

Qualified. Experienced.
Carefully considered.

Every applicant attorney, legal practitioner and legal advisor must complete a rigorous application and approval process before being listed or connected with potential clients.

01

Application & identity

Applicants disclose their actual professional category, qualifications, practice location, specialities, experience and jurisdictions. Identity, firm details and relevant qualification evidence are checked through appropriate sources.

02

Authority & professional standing

Admission and current practice status are checked with the relevant professional body or other reliable evidence where applicable. Restrictions, disciplinary disclosures and required practising or insurance documentation are considered. Legal advisors must explain and substantiate the lawful scope of the services they propose.

03

Specialist experience & references

Review relevant work history, claimed expertise, professional references and non-confidential examples of experience. Years of practice alone are not a substitute for evidence of competence in the intended work.

04

Professional standards & suitability

Assess confidentiality, conflicts procedures, independence, communication, capacity and transparent fee arrangements. Any material gap, unsupported claim or unresolved restriction must be addressed before approval.

05

Recorded approval & responsible introductions

The network administrator records the approval decision and permitted categories before any listing or referral. A client introduction then requires a matter-specific assessment of jurisdiction, expertise, availability and conflicts. Approved professionals must notify the network of material changes to their status, scope or capacity.

A CLEAR DISTINCTION

Legal practitioners.
Legal advisors.
Defined scopes.

The professional title must match the authority to act.

Attorneys, advocates and other admitted practitioners are assessed against the applicable professional registration and practice requirements. Legal advisors are assessed against their qualifications, relevant experience and the services they are lawfully permitted to provide.

A legal advisor is not presented as an admitted attorney unless that status has been established. Network approval does not create rights of audience, authorise reserved legal work or replace a local practising certificate.

Applicants may be asked for further evidence, interviewed or declined where the standard is not met. Credentials and material status changes are subject to further review. A professional may be withheld from introductions while an issue is assessed.

Approval is not a guarantee of outcome. Our review is an admission and suitability process, not a claim that any member is objectively the best professional in a country or across Africa. Professional status can change. Clients should confirm the professional's current authority, terms and ability to act before instruction. The network is not a statutory accrediting or regulatory body.
